Jo Ann (Holder) Caplinger

Jo Ann Caplinger, 95, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, IN. Jo Ann was born in Rising Sun, IN on June 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Anna (Mix) Holder and James C. Holder. She was a 1946 graduate of Rising Sun High School. Jo Ann married Herschel Leroy Caplinger on March 4, 1950 in Rising Sun, IN. Jo Ann and Herschel were married over 46 years until his passing on July 2, 1996. Jo Ann was employed for 23 years at the Rising Sun State Bank which later became Madison Bank and Trust. She attended the Bible Baptist Church in Taylor Mill, KY. Jo Ann loved sitting on her back porch overlooking the Ohio River and watching the hummingbirds that came to her feeders. She also enjoyed going to school and sporting events that her children and grandchildren participated in over the years.

Jo Ann is survived by her two daughters, Karen Caplinger, of Rising Sun, IN and Andrea Brett and husband Brad, of Norwood, OH; by her son, Mark Caplinger, of Rising Sun, IN; by her grandchildren, Jason Brett (Jami), of Westerville, OH and Kara Ervin (Ryan), of Alexandria, KY; by her great grandchildren, Drew Brett, Matt Brett, Conner Ervin, Preston Ervin and Selah Ervin. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Gary Caplinger (Pam) and by sisters-in-law, Sandra Gurley and Faye Caplinger. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Herschel Caplinger and by her brothers, Gene, Verl and James Holder.
 
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun-Ohio County EMS or the Bible Baptist Church.
