Obituary


Emmett "George" Dunaway, 71, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 5th, at Twin Towers Nursing Home, Cincinnati, OH. Emmett was born in Lawrenceburg, IN on January 13, 1948, a son of the late Martha (Webb) and Melvin  Dunaway. He attended Rising Sun High School and was employed as a barge loader at Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot, IN. He was a member of the Aurora Eagles and the Aurora American Legion. Emmett had a passion for gardening and maintained an apple orchard for many years. He also enjoyed hunting and sports, especially IU basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dallas Cowboys.
 
Emmett is  survived by daughters, Tina Mikesell, of Rising Sun, IN, Jennifer (Paul) Clark, of Rising Sun, IN,
Melanie (Jeff) Lewis, of Blanchester, OH; son, Phillip (Leah) Dunaway, of Rising Sun, IN, sisters, Mary Jane Rice, of Vevay, IN, Barb Dunaway, of Aurora, IN, Annette (James) Miller, of Aurora, IN, brother, Donnie (Shirley) Dunaway, of Aurora, IN, and grandchildren, Nicole Rider, Wesley Rider, Jaycen Dunaway, Audrey Lewis, and Peyton Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Megan Mikesell.


Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 8, 2019 with visitation from 1-2 PM and funeral at 2 PM at Markland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of Cincinnati. Cards are available at the funeral home. marklandfuneralhome.com
