Harry (Tuffy) Supply Walker went to be with his Lord on June 12, 2019 surrounded by his family at his farm in Switzerland County, Indiana. Tuffy was born on September 1, 1935 as the only child to Favre and Mildred (Boon) Walker. As a child, Tuffy enjoyed farming, fishing, and playing basketball. He met the love of his life, Freda Laverne Poling, and the two would be wed one June 1, 1958. The honeymoon was shortened as he was called to serve his country on June 3, 1958. Tuffy and Freda would spend their first two years as man and wife stationed in Germany. Tuffy was honorably discharged after two years. He then came home to establish his family, farm, and 45 year career at Seagrams.
Tuffy and Freda's marriage would be blessed by three children; Debbie, Leon, and Kim. Their children would be raised on the present day family farm. Tuffy would enjoy raising cattle, tobacco, bountiful gardens, hay, corn, and soybeans. Tuffy's passion for farming would be passed down to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren through active participation in the Switzerland County 4-H program. For as long as Tuffy was able, he was a staple at tag-ins, check-ins, livestock shows, and auctions. Tuffy was an engaged member of his community. His desire to help his neighbor would lead to the establishment of the Posey Fire House in 1972 and the growth of the local food pantry. Tuffy was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Quercus Grove.
Tuffy will be deeply missed by his wife Freda (Poling) Walker; his children, Deborah Sue Walker, Harry Leon (Andrea) Walker, Kimberly Ann (Randy) Jones; his grandchildren, Apriel (Allan) Cook, Carrie (Brian) Johns, Megan (Caleb) Hall, Jason (Cassie) Walker, Chad (Kelly) Jones, Jace Lieland, Alec Walker, and Jessilyn Walker; his great grandchildren, Allison, Kyleigh, Jadyn, Austin, Grant, Cameryn, Kendall, Rilyn, and Madilyn. Waiting for Tuffy on the other side of Heaven's gate are his parents Favre and Mildred Walker.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday, June 14th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday, June 15th at Markland Funeral Home with Pastor Laura McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church or Posey Township Fire Department. Cards are available at the funeral home. marklandfuneralhome.com
