John D. Purnell, Jr.

John D. Purnell, Jr., 41, of Ripley County IN, passed away at 3:38 AM, Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. John was born in Anderson, IN on June 13, 1978, a son of Ruth (Fisher) Purnell, of Toledo, OH and John D. Purnell, Sr., of Anderson, IN. He worked in maintenance at GECOM Corporation in Greensburg, IN for 20 years. John was a rock hound and loved looking for arrowheads and other artifacts along the river banks with family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. John was a rocker that loved the country life. In addition to his parents, John is  survived by three daughters, Brianna Miller, of Madison, IN; Elizabeth Purnell, of Madison, IN and Layla Miller, of Madison, IN; by a son, Michael Purnell, of Madison, IN; by the mother of his children, Chandal Miller, of Madison, IN; by a granddaughter, Delilah Baldwin; by a sister, Effi  Theiss, of Toledo, OH; by his brother, Kasey Purnell, of Ripley County, IN; by his brothers-in-law that were like his own brothers, Justin Whitham, of Sunman, IN; Jason Miller, of Sunman, IN; Shawn Miller, of North Vernon, IN and John Fehr, of Batesville, IN.
 
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday, January 12th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Troy Whitham officiating. Friends are invited to call  Sunday 12-2 PM  at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
