Marjorie "Peachy" G. (Bovard) Stevens

Marjorie G. "Peachy" Stevens, 90, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 5:00 AM, Monday, February 25th, 2019 at Shady Nook Care Center in Lawrenceburg, IN. Peachy was born in Ohio County, IN on August 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Essie (Walston) and Coleman Bovard. She grew up in Ohio County and attended school there. Peachy married Charles Edward Stevens on November 16, 1946. They lived several years in the Gary, IN area where Charles worked as an Iron Worker and Peachy was a waitress at various establishments. They moved back to Ohio County in the early 1980's. Peachy and Charles were married over 67 years until his passing on February 2, 2014. Peachy was a Gold Star Mother, losing her only son, Gary Lynn Stevens on May 13, 1967 during the Vietnam War. Peachy was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary. Peachy and Charles would spend winters camping in Florida where they enjoyed fishing and  going shrimping. Peachy was like a second mother to her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Charles, by a son, Gary Lynn Stevens, by brothers, Donald, Cecil, & Wilbur Bovard and by a sister, Virginia "Eloise" Holland.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Wednesday, February 27th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 12 PM - 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary or charity of choice.
