Michael Louis Rumsey

Michael Louis Rumsey, 64, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 4:50 AM, Monday, April 30th, 2018. Michael was born in Batesville, IN on June 17, 1953, a son of the late Wanda (Smith) and Louis Rumsey. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School Class of 1971 and obtained his Masters Degree from Ball State University. Michael worked as a teacher at the high school and middle school in Freemont, IN. He also taught at Switzerland County and in Greensburg. Michael was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and Shriners International. He was also a proud member of the NRA. Michael attended the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Michael enjoyed watching IU sports, NASCAR, and listening to music. He also liked to fish, hunt, and collect guns.

Michael is survived by a sister, Cheryl Grosser, of Rising Sun, IN; by sister-in-law, Tina Rumsey, of Rising Sun, IN; by nephew, Jeffery Rumsey (Christina); by nieces, Kim Penrod, Kristin Miller (David) and Allison Summerford (Robert); by great nephews, Barrett Rumsey and John Summerford and by great niece, Greta Rumsey. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Wanda Rumsey, by his brother John Rumsey and by his brother-in-law David Grosser.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday, May 4th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Laura McDonald officiating. Friends are invited to call Thursday 5-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home.
