Omer Wayne Brown

Omer Wayne Brown, 68, of Aurora, IN (formerly of Rising Sun) passed away at 9:20 AM, Monday, May 6th, 2019 at the Drake Center in Cincinnati, OH. Omer was born in Covington, KY on August 18, 1950, a son of the late Margie (Noell) and Clive O. Brown. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1968 and attended Thomas Moore College for 2 years. Omer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army  during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of SP4. While in service, Omer received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal and Marksmanship Medal. Omer was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59 where he served as past commander, color guard member and bar manager. He was employed as an expeditor in bottling at Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN for 22 years,  retiring in 2007. Omer was very involved in his community and served as Mayor of Rising Sun from January 1984 till December of 1987. He was also a  former Rising Sun Volunteer Fire Department member and a former Lions Club member. Omer also coached youth baseball. Omer married Mary (Mays) Brown on July 9th, 1979 in Gatlinburg, TN. Omer and Mary were together nearly 40 years until his passing. Omer loved spending time with his grandchildren Lynley and his fishing buddy Bodie. 

Omer is  survived by his wife, Mary Brown, of Aurora, IN; by a son, Jeremy Brown and wife Pamela of  Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren Bodie and Lynley; by a sister, Vickie Watkins, of Warsaw, KY and by a brother, Gary Brown, of KY. Omer was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Shawna Bernice Brown. 
 
Funeral services will be at 4 PM, Saturday, May 11th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Corey Potts officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 2PM-4PM at Markland Funeral Home.
