Terry "Smitty" Smith

Terry "Smitty" Smith, 65, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 4:06 PM, Monday, November 5th, 2018 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Smitty was born in Portsmouth, OH on October 15, 1953, a son of the late Ruth Lillian Louise (Schnetzer) and Everett Terry Smith. He grew up in the Ohio County community and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School Class of 1971. Smitty worked at the I&M Power Plant in Lawrenceburg, IN for over 40 years, retiring in 2010. He last worked as a groundskeeper at the Rising Sun New Cemetery since 2011. He was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion.  On April 12th, 1995 he married Barbara Jean (Miller) Smith at Isle of Palms, SC. Smitty enjoyed golfing, hunting , fishing and pitching horseshoes. Spending time with his family and friends is what he enjoyed most.

Smitty is survived by his wife Barbara Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by daughters, Lindsay Smith, of Milan, IN and McKinsay Smith, of Lawrenceburg, IN; by stepdaughter, Erin  Bennett (Jeff), of Rising Sun, IN; by stepson, Andy Smith, of Los Angeles, CA; by grandchildren: Shayley, Isaiah, Evi and Brady; by a sister, Amy Works (Rick), of Rising Sun, IN; by his mother-in-law, Jean Miller, of Rising Sun, IN; by brother-in-law, Rick Miller (Ann) of Rising Sun, IN and by nieces, Sarah, Rachel and Alanna. Smitty was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Tracy Michelle. 
 
A memorial service will be held at 5 PM, Monday, November 12th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN, A celebration of life will follow from 6-10 PM at the Schroeder Building at the Rising Sun Fairgrounds.
