Barbara Lee Drake, 83, of East Enterprise IN, passed away on Sunday, January 25th, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. Barbara was born in Lima, Ohio on July 24, 1942, a daughter of the late Alice (Chambers) Light and Harley Light. She graduated from Hanover College with her bachelor's degree. Barbara had a 20 year career in education, primarily as an art teacher. She began teaching for Rising Sun-Ohio county Schools and then later on for the Switzerland County School Corporation from which she retired. She was a talented artist and took pleasure in painting and photography. Barbara was very athletic in her youth and qualified for the Junior Olympics as a figure skater. She also thoroughly enjoyed visiting and partaking in the Ohio Renaissance Festival for several years. Barbara was a firm believer and her faith was very important to her.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Linda Christine Davis (Barry), of Somerset, KY; by her two sons, Matthew Drake (Kristian), of East Enterprise, IN and Patrick Drake, of Allentown, PA; by her daughter-in-law, Melody Drake, of Cleves, OH; by her grandchildren: Sophia, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Alexis, Noah and Jordan; by her great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Wyatt and Weston and by her brother, Michael Light, of Oklahoma. She was preceded by her parents, by her husband, Gunther Drake and by her brother, Russell Light.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family.
