Brenda Jane (Thies) Sheldon

Brenda J. (Thies) Sheldon, 81, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on January 18th, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital. Brenda was the second daughter of Malvin "Shorty" Thies and Catherine L. (Chase) Thies. After graduating from Rising Sun High School, Brenda continued her education at the Miller Business School of Cincinnati. Brenda then gained employment at Union Central Life Insurance, where she worked for 41 years. After retiring she enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds at her home in Bright, Indiana. As time went on, Brenda decided to move to Rising Sun, as her health condition started deteriorating. When she went on dialysis, Jeanie, family friends, Darrelll and Melissa Eaton, and her mother, Catherine, worked out many trips to the hospital. Brenda enjoyed going on vacation with Jeanie, Catherine and sometimes Dad went along. They traveled to every state except Hawaii, New Jersey and Alabama. As time went on with just Brenda and Jeanie, they liked going to Jack's Restaurant and Janet's Diner. In their daily lives, Jeanie and Brenda depended on Darrell and Melissa for any situation that came up, which was a great relief on them. Brenda enjoyed going to Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, where she became a member and took her faith seriously. At the end, with her health getting worse, her words were, " I don't want to go to the hospital, I am ready to meet my Savior." Those left to mourn her are her sister, Jeanie, best friends, Darrell and Melissa and many, many, cousins and friends.

Poem

As the hours of night started slipping into day,
the Good Lord decided it was time to call Brenda away.
In life we know there are heartaches, we all have to bear.
But with the loss of a loved one, we have memories to share.
Now that time goes on, our tear drops begin to dry and our heartache starts to mend.
With the love and grace of our Father, we will be with her in the end.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23rd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23rd at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
