Candy R. (Campbell) Gilb was born in Hamilton, OH on January 19, 1967, a daughter of Linda (Scherer) Campbell, of Fairfield, OH and the late John Campbell. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School. Candy was married to Chris Gilb on September 5, 1998. Candy and Chris were married over 21 years until her passing. Candy worked as a Veterinary Technician at Moore Veterinary Clinic in Rising Sun, IN. Candy was very active in the 4-H program for most of her life in both Ohio and Indiana. She was co-leader of the O3C 4-H Club for several years before starting the Backyard Critters 4-H Club. Candy had a loving and outgoing personality and rarely met a stranger. She loved the outdoors, taking vacations to the ocean, and was an animal lover. Candy had a special love for horses and shared that love with her family and many friends. Candy passed away at her residence in the loving company of her family on Friday, June 12th at the age of 53. Her legacy will live on through the love she had for her family and the impact she had on the lives of many of the area youth.
Candy is survived by her husband, Chris Gilb, of Rising Sun, IN; by two sons, Zander Gilb, of Rising Sun, IN and Gavin Gilb, of Rising Sun, IN; by her mother, Linda Campbell, of Fairfield, OH; by her grandmother, Wilma Banks, of Fairfield, OH. Candy is also survived by a sister, Sandy Retherford (Mike), of Florence, KY; by nieces, Miranda Bacon (Tyler), of Miamitown, OH; Stacy Retherford, of Florence, KY; Miriah Retherford, of Florence, KY; by nephew, Cory Gilb, of Batesville, IN and by aunts, host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM, Thursday, June, 18th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 18th at Markland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio County 4-H Youth Advisory Board. Cards are available at the funeral home.
