Carolyn Marie (Brown) Baker, 89, of Mason, OH (formerly of Rising Sun, IN) passed away on Monday, February 27th, 2023 at Mason Assisted Living & Memory Care. Carolyn was born in Ohio County, IN on February 7, 1934, a daughter of the late Edna (Fisher) Brown and Jessie Brown. Carolyn grew up in the Ohio County community and was a 1952 graduate of Rising Sun High School. Carolyn married Virgil V. Baker on February 7, 1954. Carolyn and Virgil were married over 55 years until his passing on September 23rd, 2009. Carolyn and Virgil operated the B&W Market in Rising Sun, IN for 40 years. She was a member of the Rising Sun Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn loved visiting with family and close friends. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Hoosiers basketball.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Janice Roeder (John Roeder), of Mason, OH; by her son, Larry Baker (Jo Ann Wheat), of Cincinnati, OH; by grandchildren, Amanda Maxam (Jeff Maxam), Samuel Hautman, Kimberly Hughes(Samuel Hughes), Elizabeth Baker(Michael Mitchell), Lindsay Perrmann(Jason Perrmann) and Brandon Baker(Brittany Baker); by great grandchildren, Trent, Eli, Adelyn, Jake, James, Lillian, Gwyneth, Margaret, Bella, Griffin, Brody and Bryson. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Marjorie BonDurant, of Marysville, OH; by a sister in-law, Wanda Brown, of Pendleton, IN and by several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March 6th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Darwin Pressler officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, March 6th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
