Carroll Potter age 87 of Ohio County passed away at the “Waters” of Rising Sun on Sunday May 22, 2022 at approximately 7:45 a.m.
Carroll William Potter entered this life on October 26, 1934 to Robert Clayton and Mary Gertrude (Galbreath) Potter in Ohio County, Indiana.
Carroll was raised in Ohio County and attended Fischer Grade School, and later graduated from Rising Sun High School.
Carroll entered the Army in 1957. He served from 1957 to 1959. He entered in Fort Knox, Kentucky and he also served in Germany before his discharge from service.
Carroll married Georgia Carolyn Graham on July 13, 1956. They were married at Georgia’s Parents’ beautiful home in Rising Sun, Indiana. They were married 65 years to date. To this marriage they were blessed with 3 children.
He worked at Schenley Distillery, his job was then moved from Lawrenceburg, IN to Scottsburg, IN where he worked until his early retirement. They then moved back to Ohio County and he worked at Fernald in Ohio for a time, he then worked at Kroger’s in Lawrenceburg, IN until his health became an issue.
He was initiated into the Hartford Masonic Lodge #151. He served as Worshipful Master. He received his 50 Year Award in the Masonic order. He was also a member of Rising Sun Chapter #326 Order of the Eastern Star where he served a Worthy Patron and received his 50 year Award.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ.
His favorite hobbies were camping, farming, and tinkering with lawn mowers and small engines
He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia, three children, Carolyn Sue (John) McClure of Birch Run, Michigan, Darrell Wayne Potter, Rising Sun, IN and Diana Jo (Potter) Tate of Louisville, Ky.
4 Granddaughters, 3 Grandsons, and 8 Great Grandchildren. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clayton & Gertrude Potter, Sister: Genevieve Truitt,
Brother in law: Verle Truitt and Son-in –law: Kerry G. Tate.
A Memorial service will be held:
5:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022
