Cecil Owen Campbell, 92, of Rising Sun, IN passed away Monday, September 4th, at St. Elizabeth Dearborn, Lawrenceburg, IN. Cecil was born in Ohio County, IN on April 5, 1931, a son of the late Margaret (Phipps) and Floyd Campbell. Cecil proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Schenley Distillery for over 35 years until his retirement. On August 6, 1955, he was married to Wanda Jean "Jeanne" Walston, who preceded him in death. Cecil farmed for many years and was a member of the Holmes Hill Church of Christ.
Cecil is survived by daughters Renee Henry (Tim) of Rising Sun, IN and Nanette Iceberg (Jeff) of Bear Branch, IN; sister Shirley Schieck (Tom) of Wisconsin; grandchildren Stevie McHenry (Becky), Misty Colen (Ty), Amanda Spradlin (Nick), Nicholas Iceberg and Andrew Iceberg; great grandchildren Tanner Thompson, Madison Thompson, Bailey Thompson, Gracie Henry, Hailey Colen, McKenzie McHenry, and Landon McHenry. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Floyd Campbell; wife Wanda Jean "Jeanne" Campbell; brother Gayle Campbell; and sisters Marita Lusk, Jean Wendelman, and Babe Sietz.
Single day services are to be held at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN, Wednesday September 13th 11 AM - 1 PM, funeral 1 PM, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Waters of Rising Sun, our local nursing home care facility. Funds raised in Cecil's honor will be used for various needs of residents such as personal care items or clothing. On memorials made by check, please make payable to The Waters of Rising Sun and put "Cecil Campbell" on the memo line.
