Charles I. "Dickie" Densler, 78, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, IN. Dickie was born in Verona, KY on September 15, 1942, a son of Charles E. Densler and Helen D. "Patty" (Sisson) Densler Hemphill. Unfortunately his father Charles passed when Dickie was a young boy, but luckily his stepfather Mills Hemphill came into their lives. Dickie attended Ohio County Schools and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1960. After graduation Dickie proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 1st Class from 1960 to 1964. After his return from service Dickie began work at Cincinnati Incorporated in Harrison Ohio where was employed as a Production Planner. Dickie worked there for over 41 years from 1964 till his retirement in 2005. Dickie married Bonnie (Keith) Densler on August 20, 1983. They were married over 20 years until her passing on May 29, 2004. Dickie was a member of the Aurora Eagles Lodge, the Forty & Eight and an over 50 year member of the Rising Sun American Legion. Dickie was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Reds and Bengals, as well as IU and Notre Dame. Dickie also loved to travel and was an avid reader and enjoyed watching westerns. Spending time with his family and hanging out with friends were his favorite things.
Dickie is survived by his son, Randy Densler (Shellie), of Patriot, IN; by his step daughter, Tonya Koons (Paul), of Patriot, IN; by his grandson, Jake Koons (Holly), of Lawrenceburg, IN; by great grandchildren, Heidi and Kylee; by his brother-in-law, Bobby Jo Keith (Diana), of Rising Sun, IN and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, by his father, Charles E. Densler, by his mother Patty Hemphill and his stepfather, Mills Hemphill.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, May 17th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 16th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
