Christina "Chrissy" (Courter) Koons

Christina, “Chrissy” Lynne (Courter) Koons, 58, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away June 28, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. Chrissy was born on April 12, 1966, a daughter of the late Howard and Pamela (Wagner) Courter. Chrissy was a graduate of Switzerland County High School. On May 22, 1999, she was married to Michael “Mike” Koons. They were married for over 25 years until her passing.

Chrissy was a light in the life of those she knew and loved. Spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, was a special source of joy for her. Chrissy also enjoyed cultivating beautiful flowers, making furniture sales, and having outdoor adventures such as camping and fishing.

Chrissy is survived by her husband, Mike Koons, of Rising Sun, IN; daughters Nikki Curry (Kenny) of Dillsboro, IN, Micky Bovard (Trevor) of Rising Sun, IN, and Dena Taylor (Harry) of Rising Sun, IN; brother Donnie Courter (Julie) of Rising Sun, IN; sister Tammy Baker of Rising Sun, IN; grandchildren Emily, Riley, Maddy, Shyanne, Tyler, Evan, Jake, Braxton, Wesley, and Mason; and great grandchild Liliana. In addition to her parents, Chrissy was preceded in death by sister Crystal Courter.

Memorial services for Chrissy will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, at the Markland Funeral Home, visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with funeral at 2:00 PM. A private burial will be held at a separate time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County Rescue Unit.
