David Fredrick Greive was born on the family farm along Laughery Creek in French, IN (better known as Buffalo then) on April 1, 1935, a son of the late Margaret (Spencer) Greive and Victor Greive, Sr. Dave passed away on Monday, August 2nd, 2021, doing what he loved, at the age of 86. Dave grew up on Laughery Creek and was a 1954 graduate of Aurora High School. Dave was a former owner and operator of Ohio Valley Beverage in Aurora, IN. Being a rancher was his true passion. He loved tending to his cattle and doing the work that came along with it. He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Aurora, IN . Dave was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, coon hunting and trapping. He and his brothers used to take fishing trips to Canada as well. Dave was also a talented artist and even won a competition in school. Dave was a hard worker but he liked to have fun. He loved to travel and also meeting up with his friends in the liars club for breakfast. Dave loved to dance and be with his beloved family, he got to do both just a couple of days before his passing.
David is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Seaver (Ron), of Aurora, IN; Pam Jackson (Rick), of Connersville, IN and Bonnie Protzman, of Annapolis, MD; by his son,Mike Greive (Norma), of Aurora, IN; by grandchildren: Rick Seaver, Tricia Jackson (Nerrick), Tawnya Haire (Roger), Dustin Seaver, Travis LaBazzo (Allie), Tristan Michael LaBazzo , Trey LaBazzo (Linsey), Trenton Schwegmann (Angela), David Christopher Messerschmidt, Cassie Sinha (Akshay), Brian Rice, Thorton Ferreira, Grace Ferreira, Caitlyn Protzman & Amanda Protzman; by great grandchildren: Rylie, Lauren, Jack, Nate, Aiden, Addyson, Kayleigh, Chelsie, Colton, Tristin, Kyra, Vander, Aubree, Alesia, Ava, Ella, Jonathan, Logan, Luca and Jai. David is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Nead, of Ormond Beach, FL and Peggy Klepper (Steve), of Holland, OH; by two brothers, Victor Greive, Jr. (Joan), of Aurora, IN and Donald Greive (Shirley), of Aurora, IN; by sisters-in-law; Jackie Greive, of Aurora, IN and Rosemary Greive, of Burlington, KY; by his special friend and companion, Colleen Brass, of Cleves, OH and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents , by brothers, Kenneth & Jimmy Greive and by an infant sister, Bonnie Greive.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 8th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, August 9th at Markland Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN. Memorial donations may be made to Aurora Emergency Rescue, Aurora Fire Department, Ohio County EMS or Rising Sun Fire Department.
