David Earl Hite

David Earl Hite, 80, of Patriot, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. David was born in Cincinnati, OH on November 28, 1941, one of fifteen children of the late Catherine Lee (Dixon) Hite and James Earl Hite. David grew up in Switzerland County and was a graduate of Patriot High School. David married the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Gould) Hite on August 24, 1960 in Patriot, IN. David and Shirley were married over 61 years until his passing. David proudly served his country in the US Navy. After his return from service, David worked for the L & N Railroad for 5 years. He later began work at the Indiana Michigan Power Plant in Lawrenceburg, IN. David worked as an electrician at the Tanners Creek Plant for 29 years, retiring in 1996. In addition to his work, farming was always an important part of David's life. He and Shirley purchased their farm in 1968 and treasured the time spent there with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. David was a member of the Patriot Belle River Masonic Lodge #327 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason and member of the Knights Templar. He was a man of strong faith and attended the Patriot Baptist Church. David was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend to many and will be deeply missed.

David is  survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Hite, of Patriot, IN; by his two daughters, Gina Fette and husband Greg, of Manchester, IN and Connie Hite, of Florence, IN; by his son, Joey Hite and wife Gwen, of Patriot, IN; by his beloved grandchildren: Amanda Gipson, Amy McDonald and husband Wes, Ashley Rose and husband Brandon, Travis Scudder and wife Andrea, Kristyn Yelton and husband Skyler, Trenton Scudder and fiance` Nikki, Joseph Hite and fiance` Whitney; by his great grandchildren: Trevor, Ella, Waylon, William, Brooks, Sophia, Wyatt and Jolienne. David is also survived by two sisters, Cathy Darbo, of Madison, IN and Bonnie Hite, of Vevay, IN; by three brothers, Stevie Hite, of Patriot, IN, Jackie Hite (Doreen), of Madison, IN and Danny Hite (Tammy), of Madison, IN. David was preceded in death by his parents James & Catherine Hite and his siblings: Jonathon Hite, Carl Hite, Bernard Hite, Charlie Hite, Kenny Hite, Jim "Sunny Boy" Hite, Bessie Hite, Adeline Burns and Doris Sullivan.

Graveside services with Masonic and Military Honors will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, February 20th at Eastview Cemetery in Patriot, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the Patriot Baptist Church. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family.
