Diana Nichols Donley
July 16, 1954- April 1, 2022
Diana graduated from Aurora High School in 1972. She was the first female to attend the auto mechanics program at the Versailles Career Center.
Diana had a great passion for our country and its military service personal and veterans. Through the years she was affiliated with many veterans groups. Her biggest contribution to help veterans and their families was her association with the POW/MIA organization AFFA (Americans for Freedom Always). In which she worked with founder John “Top” Holland to get legislation passed in Congress to help families of POW’s and MIA’s. She also served on President George Bush Seniors inauguration committee.
Her passion for our country was so great that on June 29, 1989 she was sworn into the US Army. Diana served our country in the sands of Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield and the Desert Storm war. During her eight years of service she also served at Ft. Campbell, Germany and Ft. Hood.
Diana is survived by brother Michael Nichols (Susan) of Dry Ridge KY, sister, Mary Ann Potter (Lenny) of Batavia, OH, daughter, Sharon Berkley (Brian) of Patriot, IN, Grandsons, Demetrie Liapis (Katlynn), of Patriot, IN, Jason Colen of Rising Sun, IN, David Colen (MaKayla) of Patriot, IN, and six wonderful great grandsons, Daniel, Kelly, Brycen, Albus, Kylan & Maycen.
Visitation will be 12-2 PM, Wednesday, April 6th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN.
