Donald E. Probst, 71, of Patriot, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, IN. Donald was born in Milan, IN on November 15, 1949, a son of the late Jessie (Trotto) Probst and Lloyd George Probst. Donald was a graduate of Aurora High School, Class of 1968. After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the husband of Linda (Elza) Probst. Donald and Linda were married on April 13, 1994 at the Patriot Baptist Church. He worked as a security guard at the Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun, IN for 21 years. Donald loved the people he worked with and they loved him. Donald enjoyed watching westerns and playing cards. He also loved working in his yard and was a farmer at heart.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Linda Probst, of Patriot, IN; by his daughter, Brenda Probst (Wayne Johnson), of Aurora, IN; by his son, Donald Kenneth Probst, of Indianapolis, IN; by four step daughters, Teresa Almaraz, of Riverview, FL; Tonia Allen, of Florence, IN; Regina Payne, of Patriot, IN and Angela Leija, of Wimauma, FL; by a step son, Louis Bottorff, of Orlando, FL; by 24 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Donald is also survived by two sisters, Linda Phenning, of Rising Sun, IN and Charlene Probst, of Aurora, IN; by three brothers, Gary Probst, of Aurora, IN; James Probst, of Aurora, IN and John Probst, of Moores Hill, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a stepson, Michael Bottorff, by a brother, Lloyd Joseph Probst and by a great granddaughter, Samantha Spurlock.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Sunday, March 21st at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Debbie Beason officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 21st at Markland Funeral Home. Military honors conducted by the Rising Sun American Legion will follow the funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to King's Daughters' Health Cancer Treatment Center.
