Donald R. Swart of Rising Sun, born January 13, 1949, passed away at his home on June 9, 2023. He is survived by his wife Nancy; son, Mike (Ginger), and daughter, Kassie (Terry); also four grandchildren Julia, Ben, Maren, and Sam. Sister, Mary (Doon) and brother Sybrand (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his brother John.
Don was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Marine Corps 1968-1970.
A family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. They meant the world to him. He recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. An avid outdoorsman, Don shared his knowledge and experience with others through teaching search and rescue courses and leading a Boy Scout Troop. Don loved caving and assisted in mapping caves and collecting water samples for research. Don was named a Kentucky Colonel for his service as search and rescue instructor. His handiwork during his years of remodeling is evident in many Ohio County homes.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 26th 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Schroeder Building, 1419 Fairground Road Rising Sun, IN 47040.
