Doris J. Fox Obituary
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Doris Jean Fox was called to come and enter her eternal reward. Her death closes a very ambitious and fruitful life of 87 years. She leaves her devoted family and friends with kind recollections of her ardent love for her family, her faith in God, years of support for her church, and a calm endurance of many afflictions. Her personal warmth and good humor have embraced her family and many, many friends.
On September 9, 10, or 11, 1937 (depending on who you ask), Doris Jean was born to Francis and Hellen (Rollins) Smith in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Doris was the firstborn in a family of two brothers, named William Lee Smith and Francis Lee Smith, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and two brothers.
Doris grew up in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. She faithfully attended the Church of Christ on the corner of Elm and Center, and at the age of 12, made her confession of faith and was baptized by Brother Art Morris. She graduated from junior high school at Central Elementary. Then in 1955, she graduated from Lawrenceburg Consolidated High School.
On September 4, 1955 she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Fox. They made their home in Lawrenceburg until 1956 when Ron decided to go to Cincinnati Christian College to study for the ministry. In 1960, Ron received his degree and they accepted their first full-time ministry in Butler, Indiana. Then, they were blessed with two very special children, Cindy Sue and Timothy Wayne. A third child, Ronald Lee, Jr. was stillborn.
Doris's family was so very special to her. She was so excited when she was blessed with her five granddaughters: Kendra Sue, Amanda Lee, Amy Renee, Melissa Nicole, and Kristen Fox. Then came eleven great grandchildren: Malia Faith, Reagan Sophia, Jackson Allen, Ethan Matthew, Mason Ryan, Parker Matthew, Ellie Jean, Aiden Michael, Sophia Grace, Greyson Matthew, and Breeya Raelyn.
Doris loved being involved in ministry. Her love for music and beautiful soprano voice blessed many, many people. And her last words for her family would be, “Always shine for Jesus, and I will meet you in heaven.”
