Erika L. Koons

Erika Lynn Koons, 54, of Ohio County, IN passed away Sunday, November 16th, 2025. Erika was born in Cincinnati, OH on August 27, 1971, a daughter of the late Dorothy (Myers) Tussey and Raymond M. Tussey, Sr. Erika grew up in Cincinnati and attended Oak Hills High School. She went on to study cosmetology and was a beautician for nearly 30 years. Her sweet and caring nature inspired a close connection to her customers. For the last several years Erika was employed in the security department at the Rising Star Casino where she rose to head of security. She took pride in her job and treasured the people she worked with. Erika enjoyed singing and performed with her husband Lynn in different bands over the years. She also liked to do sewing projects in her spare time. Erika loved the outdoors and delighted in hiking and rock collecting. She was a blessing to all that knew her.

Erika is survived by her daughter, Jessica Koons, of Rising Sun, IN; by her two sons Zach Miller, of Cleves, OH and Michael Miller, of East Enterprise, IN; by her former husband, Lynn Koons, of Rising Sun, IN; by a sister, Jacquelyn Coyne, of Delhi, OH; by two brothers, Ervin Myers, of Delhi, OH and  Elwood Boso, of Lawrenceburg, IN and by a host of friends. 
 
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM, Tuesday November 25th at Markland Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be to the Red Wolf Sanctuary or to the family. marklandfuneralhome.com
