Estella Mae Peters, 88, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, IN. Estella was born in Vevay, IN on May 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Edith Florence (Brindley) Banta and Chester Banta. She grew up in Switzerland County and attended Vevay High School. Estella married Orville Ray Peters on June 1st, 1951. Estella and Orville were married over 70 years until her passing. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Purdue Extension Office in Ohio County for several years. Estella enjoyed doing different craft projects, sewing and cooking. She was also very involved with the local 4-H clubs, serving as assistant Youth Leader for the Ohio County Junior Leaders and helping at the county fair.
Estella is survived by her husband, Orville Peters, of Rising Sun, IN; by two daughters, Marsha Robinson and husband John, of Loveland, OH and Judy Cox, of Indianapolis, IN;by a son, Rick Peters and wife Marlene, of Vevay, IN. She is also survived by grandchildren: David (Jeannette) Robinson of Loveland, OH, Timothy (Joey-Lynn) Robinson, of Milford, OH, Amanda Cox of Beach Grove, IN, Rachel (Philip) Trbovic of Indianapolis, IN, Meghan (Anthony) Kaczmarek of Rising Sun, IN, and Kayla (Zac) Nelson, of Vevay, IN and by great grandchildren: Chester, Alden, Beau, Riley, Georgianna, Eli, James & Lucy. She was preceded in death by brothers, Graham Banta, Loren Banta, & Everett "Dutch" Banta, by sisters, Paulene Lewis, Wilma Nadene Brameier & Geraldine Humphrey and by a great granddaughter, Elsie Robinson.
Visitation will be held 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, January 7th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at Markland Funeral Home with Br. John Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio County 4-H Program. marklandfuneralhome.com
