Evelyn Irene (Asche) Hummel

Evelyn Irene Asche Hummel was born one of seven children on August 27th, 1936, in Delaware, Indiana to Clarence and Daisy (Schmaltz) Asche and later baptized at Mud Pike Baptist Church.   

She graduated in 1954 from Osgood High School where she loved being a cheerleader and hanging out with friends at the Dairy Bar.  

She met her husband William (Bill) Hummel and was married November 16th, 1957.  They had 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

After Bill’s passing in July of 2008, she married Robert Banschbach in 2009, until his passing in 2017.  

She is survived by her four children, Jeff Hummel of Greenville, South Carolina, Greg (Becky) Hummel of Rising Sun, Indiana, Dan (Lisa) Hummel of Rising Sun, Indiana, and Marla Copeland (Dave) of Dunnellon, Florida, her 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and four brothers.  

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, shopping, and vacationing with family.  She also enjoyed going to Florida in the winter.  Evelyn also liked to play cards at the Riverboat.  

Visitation will be 11 AM - 12 PM, Monday, January 24th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM at Markland Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.  Donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Rising Sun, IN.
