Franklin D. R. Davies, 87, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Franklin was born in Dillsboro, IN on August 7, 1933, a son of the late Edline (Workman) and Orlando Davies. Franklin was raised in the Dillsboro community and attended school there. Franklin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Franklin married Nina (Justice) Davies on June 20, 1953. They were married nearly 68 years until his passing. Franklin worked as a General Contractor for Dillards for several years. He attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Dillsboro. Franklin enjoyed fishing, going to Red's ball games and attending all events and activities that his grandchildren were involved in.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Nina Davies, of Dillsboro, IN; by daughters, Sheila Black and husband Terry, of Rising Sun, IN and Nina Hoffman and husband William "Bill", of Dillsboro, IN; by son, Tony Davies of California; by brothers, Paul Davies, of Dillsboro, IN and Charles "Francis" Davies, of Dillsboro, IN; by son-in-law, Dean Ransom, of Dillsboro, IN; by 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Pamela Davies, sisters Ruby Eaglin, Irene Stall, and Helen Greenham, and brothers, Clifford Davies, Harold Davies, Howard Davies, Harry Davies, and Jim Davies.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dillsboro Life Squad. Services to be held at the convenience of the family.
