Fred Roger Smith

"Uncle" Fred Roger Smith, 73, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on May 29th, 2020 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Fred was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 4, 1947, a son of the late Ina Alma (Buster) Cromer and John A. Smith. Fred was a graduate of Norwood High School and received a BA in business from Olivet Nazarene College. Fred formerly worked as an insurance adjuster for several companies over the years, including the Crawford and CNA companies out of Cincinnati. Fred loved sharing a drink and spending time with his friends who were like family to him. Fred his survived by two nieces; Kristin Smith Brown (Doug), of Florence, KY and Holly E. Smith, of Erlanger, KY; by two nephews; John David Smith (Ginger Love), of Rising Sun, IN and Jeffrey T. Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by great and great great nieces & nephews; Matt Kinnett (Guillermina Amadeo Ercoli), Emily Thomas (Jordan), J.R. Smith, Eli Smith, Brooke Smith, Cody Smith and Christopher Thomas. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Reuben John Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 8 PM, Thursday, June 4th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 4th at Markland Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. marklandfuneralhome.com
