Garry Gene Holder

Garry Gene Holder, 81, of Rising Sun, IN passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023. Garry was born in Milan, IN on December 11, 1941, a son of the late Margaret (Frazier) Holder and Howard Eugene Holder. Garry grew up in Ohio County and was a 1959  graduate of Rising Sun High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a long time member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59 where he served as Financial Officer. Garry worked as an electrician for several years at Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN. He also later worked for Rising Star Casino. Garry was the husband of the late Janet Ruth (Robinson) Holder who passed on January 24, 2021. Garry was very active his whole life and enjoyed running, biking and working out. He was also an avid golfer and gained local notoriety for winning a car in a golf tournament. Garry was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend to many.

Garry is survived by his daughter, Tonya Koons and husband Paul, of Patriot, IN; by his stepdaughter, April Stewart and husband Steve, of Rising Sun, IN;  by grandchildren: Jake Koons (Holly), Kale Stewart & Morgan Eads (Kent); by great grandchildren: Heidi, Kylee, Creed & Landen; by his brother, Donnie Holder and wife Linda, of West Chester, OH; by his sister, Marcie Holder, of Lawrenceburg, IN and by special friend, Janet Brett, of Rising Sun, IN.
 

A celebration of Garry's life will be held 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 10th at the Rising Sun American Legion in Rising Sun, IN with a dinner being served at 6:00 PM.
