Gary Eugene Ballard

Gary Eugene Ballard, 71, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. Gary was born in Milan, IN on November 18, 1953, a son of the late Martha (O'Conner) Ballard and Dorman  Ballard. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1973. Gary married Leona (Turner) Ballard on December 7, 1973 in Rising Sun, IN. Gary and Leona were married over 51 years until his passing. Gary worked as a custodian at the Rising Sun-Ohio County Community School Corporation for nearly 20 years. Gary enjoyed working on and restoring old cars and lawn tractors. He always liked to be tinkering on something.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Leona Ballard, of Rising Sun, IN; by his two sons, Frank Ballard (Devin), of Rising Sun, IN and Samuel Ballard, of Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren, Corissa Ballard, Kendra Elza, Isac Elza and Jesse Hockett; by his sister, Frances Mondary (Tony), of Rising Sun, IN; by his brother, Stanley Ballard (Betty), of Rising Sun, IN and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dorman & Martha Ballard; by brothers, Patrick, Earl William, Ronnie and Paul Ballard; and by sisters, Betty Jane Brady, JoAnn Hall and Shirley Lambertson.
