Gary Leroy Turner

Gary Leroy Turner, 85, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Gary was born in Gallatin County, KY on April 10, 1940, a son of the late Violet (Williams) Turner and Stanley A. Turner. He was a graduate of Patriot High School, Class of 1959. Gary was a veteran and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Gary was employed at Pierson-Hollowell in Lawrenceburg, IN for 28 years. He later went on to work at Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg, IN and for Wal-Mart in Aurora, IN. Gary enjoyed the outdoors fishing and squirrel hunting. He also liked outings to Rising Star Casino.  Gary was a loving dad, papaw, brother, uncle and friend to many. 

Gary is survived by two daughters, Angela Ann Colen, of Moores Hill, IN and Nola Sue Riley (Tom), of Moores Hill, IN; by 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Gary is also survived by two brothers, Donald Turner (Evelyn), of Florence, KY and Raymond Turner (Cindy), of Crittenden, KY;  by a sister-in-law, Fran Hoffman, of Hebron, KY and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant daughter in 1965, by a son, Ricky Lynn Turner in 1967, and by a sister, Beverly Hoffman and her husband, Kenneth.
 
Funeral services will be 6:00 PM, Monday, December 1st, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, December 1st at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Waters of Rising Sun Activity Fund.
