Harry Dean Ballard

Harry Dean Ballard, 83, of Batesville, IN, (formerly of Sunman) passed away at 1:27 PM, Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Harry was born in Rising Sun, IN on February 22, 1935, a son of the late Edith G. (Cochran) and John  William Ballard. Harry grew up in the Rising Sun community and graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1953. He began work at Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN after graduation. Harry halted his career at Seagram's to serve his country in the US Air Force. While in service Harry received the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After completion of his time in the military, Harry returned to work at Seagram's until his retirement, serving the company for over 30 years. Harry attended the Hope Baptist Church and also the First Southern Baptist Church in Sunman, IN when his health allowed. He was a member of Eagles Lodge in Aurora, IN. Harry also liked to go fishing. Harry loved his Lord and his family. 

Harry is  survived by two daughters, Sandra Moffitt, of Lawrenceburg, IN and Hope Hussung, of Warren, MI; by a son, Doug Ballard and wife Mandy, of Sunman, IN; by five grandchildren: Romel, Shandre, Jeremy, James & Melinda and also by 14 great grandchildren; by a sister, Mary Ann Schemes, of Milford, OH; by sister-in-law Rita Ballard, of Manchester, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother, Raymond Ballard and by a sister, Norma Jean Kelly.
 
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday, February 24th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Kelley Barnes officiating. Friends are invited to call Sunday 12-2 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military graveside honors will be at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN.
