Helen L. Works

Helen Works, age 92, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 at Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, IN. Helen was born on May 22nd, 1928, the oldest daughter of Frank Brown and Ola Waskom (Lonsbury). She grew up in Medora, Indiana in a family with one other sibling, Wanda Earley. She married Donald Works in September 1949, and they were married for almost sixty years. Both were active in politics and loved spending time with family and friends.

She was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church. Before her retirement, she worked at Seagrams, Siekmen & Stearns Insurance, and the BMV. Helen was hardworking, quick-witted, and had a great sense of humor. She was respected and well liked by all who knew her

Helen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Bovard (Stephen); grandson Donald Bovard (Jenny), granddaughter Terri Sarver (Derik), and five great-grandchildren, Olivia Bovard (Aurora, IN), Nya Bovard, Meghan Bovard, Jacob Bovard, and Andrew Sarver, (Rising Sun, IN). She was preceded in death by Deborah’s father, Donald Works, and her parents, Frank Brown and Ola Waskom. She will always be missed and forever loved.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday, November 30th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 30th from 11 AM-1 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun First Baptist Church or Alzheimer's Association.

Due to the current situation dealing with COVID-19, we are following the directives from Governor Holcomb and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concerning large events and mass gatherings. The family deeply appreciates the support and love shown from friends. The health and well being of everyone in our community is of top priority. We are asking everyone who will be in attendance to please remember the social distancing guidelines at all times and the wearing of masks or face coverings will be required. We are limited to 50 at a time inside. Thank you.
