James Frank Conner

James Frank Conner, 85, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Friday, December 20th, 2019 at Highpoint Health, in Lawrenceburg, IN. James was born in Versailles, KY on June 25, 1934, a son of the late Ola Evelyn (Drury) and Rodney  Conner. He was the husband of Shelvia Jean (Bess) Conner. On March, 17, 1970, they were married at the Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, IN. James and Jean were married over 49 years until his passing. James worked in law enforcement for 27 years. He was Ohio County Sheriff for 8 years and an Ohio County deputy before that. James also worked for the Versailles, KY Police Department and was a detective for the Lexington, KY Police Department. James proudly served his country in the US Navy form 1957 to 1961. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Rising Sun American Legion, Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and Aurora Moose Lodge. James enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren is what he loved most.
James is  survived by his wife, Jean Conner, of Rising Sun, IN; by daughters, Jamie Bourne (Rick), of Versailles, KY; Janice Quillin, of Willmore, KY and JoAnn Mitchell, of Versailles, KY; by sons Jimmy Conner (LeAnn), of Lexington, KY; Jeffery Conner, of Versailles, KY; Brian Conner, of Versailles, KY; Michael Conner (Lisa), of East Enterprise, IN and David Conner (Donnetta), of Aurora, IN; by a step daughter, Peggy Fehrenbach (Tim), of Rising Sun, IN and a step son, John Steele (Miles) , of California; by 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and  by a brother, Phillip Conner (Dorothy), of Versailles, KY. James was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers Rodney, Ronald and David Conner and by sister Helen Powell.
 
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, December 23rd at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Visitation will be Monday 1-2 PM at Markland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
