Janet Kay Shaver

Janet Kay Shaver, 74, of Rising Sun, IN (formerly of Vevay), passed away on Wednesday, November 20th 2019, at The Waters of Rising Sun. Kay was born in Milan, IN on August 17, 1945, a daughter of the late Emma Marianna (Grace) and Coy Lee Shaver. She grew up in Ohio County and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1963. Kay retired from Belterra Casino in Florence, IN where she worked in security. She previously had worked for Randall Textron in Vevay, IN for 20 years. Kay was baptized at the River Apostolic Church in Vevay, IN and also formerly attended the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Kay loved to sing and was very good at it, competing at singing competitions at Belterra. Kay also enjoyed reading and watching movies. She liked joking with her friends and spending time with her family. Kay is  survived by a son, Mark Lee Shaver, of Vevay, IN; by three sisters, Peggy  Marble, of Aurora, IN; Patsey Chapman, of Rising Sun, IN and Melody Striker, of Hebron, KY: by a brother, Donald Shaver, of Rising Sun, IN; and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, November 25th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Anthony Wilks officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Sunday, November 24th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family or the American Cancer Society.
