Jeffrey "Bean" Bladen Obituary

Jeffrey "Bean" Allen Bladen, 60, passed away on Friday, January 10th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born in Lawrenceburg, IN on March 13, 1964, a son of Judy (Nixon) Neff and Gary Bladen. He attended South Dearborn Schools and later went on to graduate from Rising Sun High School, Class of 1982. Jeff proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from which he retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant with primary specialties of Mortarman, Marksmanship Instructor, Infantry Unit Leader and Recruiter. During his 20 years of service, Jeff received the following commendations: Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Nato Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal and fought in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was the husband of Tammy (Tumbleston) Bladen. Jeff and Tammy were married on January 14, 1989 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Hollywood, South Carolina. Jeff and Tammy were married nearly 36 years before Jeff's passing just 4 days prior to their anniversary. After his retirement from the military, Jeff worked for Parsec Inc. in Cincinnati, OH where he became regional manager and was also owner of Gunny's Excavation & Land Clearing in Alabama. Jeff was an avid gun collector, outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He loved to cook on the grill for his friends and family. Jeff also loved his many dogs and enjoyed their company. Jeff was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many and will be deeply missed.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Tammy Bladen, of Temple, GA; by his mother and adoptive father, Judy and David Neff, of Aurora, IN; by his father, Gary Bladen, of Vevay, IN; by his sister, Michele Maskell (Shane), of Camby, IN; by three brothers, David Neff II (Becky), of Moores Hill, IN;  Terry Waller (Andrea), of Lafayette, IN and Josh Bladen (Christina), of Milton, WV; by his uncle and close friend, Bud Nixon; by his aunts, Barb Christerson, Betty Cosby, Cheryl "Shorty" Walton (Richard), Janet Donnellon (Jim), Linda Pavy,  Nina Dilts (David) and Jane Fahey; by his uncle, Danny Neff (Janice); by his sister in-law, Marilyn Prine (HJ), and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Mary Nixon, by his aunt and close friend, Charlene Nixon, by his father and mother in-law, Arnold and Katherine Tumbleston and by his precious infant son.
 
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Loving Hearts Hospice or the Ohio County Animal Shelter (monetary donations or needed supplies).
