Jerry Wayne Vinup

Jerry Wayne Vinup, 69, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 6:18 PM, Saturday, September 18th, at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Clermont, FL. Jerry was born in Rising Sun, IN on July 22, 1952, a son of Betty Rose (Detmer) Vinup and the late Hubert Vinup. Jerry was a graduate of the Rising Sun High School Class of 1970. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he was employed by CSX Railroad. Jerry was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59, Sons of the American Legion, 40 & 8, Legion Riders, V.F.W, Moose, and Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, hunting for shark teeth, helping with odd jobs, and watching his grandchildren's sport events. 

Jerry is survived by his mother, Betty Rose Vinup of Rising Sun, IN; daughters Elizabeth "Beth" Vinup of Greendale, IN, Heidi (Josh) Harrell of Patriot, IN, and Daena (Joseph) Sprafka of Guilford, IN; sisters Marilyn "Sue" Scalf (Tim Bovard) of Rising Sun, IN and Cheri (Barry) Collins of Rising Sun, IN; grandchildren Kaleb, Brooke, Jaden, Brayden, Joseph, Nathaniel, James, and Jackson; nieces and nephews Michele (Michael) Weissman, Nick (Kim) Scalf, Jodie (Rodney) White, Chris (Ann) Collins, David Vinup, Dennis (Angel) Vinup, Danny (Rhonda) Vinup, James (Sara) Vinup, Tony Vinup, and Shane Vinup; as well as many great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by brothers Stephen Dale Vinup and Danny Vinup, brother-in-law Max "Ed" Scalf, and grandson Kaden Harrell.

A public visitation will be held Thursday, September 30th, from 5 - 8 PM at the Markland Funeral Home. Funeral will be Friday, October 1st, at 11 AM at the Markland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59.
