John Wesley Kelly, 59, of Patriot, IN (formerly of Rising Sun), passed away at 5:18 AM, Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Johnny was born in Lawrenceburg, IN on July 5, 1962, a son of Clara B. (Boggs) Rodgers, of Milan, IN and John D. Kelly, of Rising Sun, IN. Johnny married the love of his life Viola J. (Woodruff) Kelly on July 29, 2011. Viola passed on November 18, 2015. He was a hard worker who did a lot of tree trimming and wood cutting and was very talented with a chainsaw. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. Johnny is survived by his loving mother, Clara Rodgers, of Milan, IN; by his father John D. Kelly and wife Kathy of Rising Sun, IN; by his sister, Julia Demaree and husband John, of Fairplay, CO; by a half sister, Erin Fleet and husband Rick, of Dixon, TN; by step sisters Holly Hunefield, of Aurora, IN, Darla Mahoney, of Cincinnati, OH and Crystal Jackson, of Aurora, IN; by a step brother David Henson, of Florence, KY and by many cousins, other family members and friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Viola Kelly, by his brother Lloyd "Rusty" Kelly and by his step father Paul Rodgers.
Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with Eldon Fancher officiating. Family and friends will gather for a meal at the Rising Sun American Legion from 1 PM till 3 PM following the services. Johnny will be cremated and later buried with his wife Viola at the Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Cemetery or American Cancer Society.
