John Ernest Wolfe

John Ernest Wolfe, 81, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 at his residence. John was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan on August 16, 1938, a son of the late Flossie (Wilson) Pearson and Clyde Wolfe. At a young age, John and his family moved to the Rising Sun community where he attended high school.  John was the husband of the late Gloria Neaman Wolfe (granddaughter of J.W. Whitlock).  They married on September 8, 1959 and were together over 47 years until her passing in 2006. John is a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the US Army over 20 years, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the military, John went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Louisville in 1980. He was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ and the Elizabethtown, KY American Legion. John was an antique dealer and an avid collector and dealer in sports cards and other sports memorabilia.  John is survived by a daughter, dana marie hildebrand (Kenny), of Rising Sun, IN; by four sons, Stephen Wolfe (Kathy), of Florence, KY; Jon David Wolfe (Vernetta), of Franklin Crossroads, KY; Robert Daniel Wolfe, of Louisville, KY and John-Jared Wolfe, of Rising Sun, IN; by 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Gloria and by sisters Nita Stewart and Claudia Ann Pearson. 
 
A public visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Saturday, January 25th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN.  Military Honor Guard services will be conducted at the end of visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rising Sun Church of Christ Mission Team or charity of choice. Cards are available at the funeral home.
