Joyce Ann (Durham) Stroop

Joyce Ann Stroop, 73, of Ohio County, IN, passed away on Friday, July 10th, 2020 at her residence. Joyce was born in Cincinnati, OH on April 25, 1947, a daughter of the late Koleta (Wilson) and Charles  Durham. She was a graduate of Princeton High School. Joyce formerly worked making arrangements in the floral department at Kroger in  Lawrenceburg, IN. Joyce married Kenneth H. Stroop on July 4, 1980. Joyce and Ken were married over 40 years until her passing. Joyce enjoyed camping, fishing , boating and tending to her flowers. She was a big Gunsmoke and Marshal Matt Dillon fan. Joyce loved animals and her cats and dogs held a special place in her heart.

Joyce is  survived by her husband Ken Stroop, of Ohio County, IN; by two daughters,Shannon Marie Ballard and Brenda Leeann Ballard, of Ohio Co., IN; by step daughter Kristina Gail Castellini, of Clarksville, TN; by step son,Kenneth Richard Stroop, of Nashville, TN;  by four grandchildren, Trent Hammers, Heather Mess, Kayla Castellini and Cody Castellini; by eleven great grandchildren and by sister-in-law, Judy Durham, of West Chester, OH. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers, Bobby and Harold Durham.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday, July 13th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be Monday 11 AM - 1 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter. Cards are available at the funeral home.
