Karen Sue (Disbro) Downing

Karen Sue (Disbro) Downing, 70, of Aberdeen, IN, passed away on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Karen was born in Milan, IN on January 13, 1954, a daughter of the late Barbara Jean (Woliung) Disbro and Harold Lee Disbro. Karen grew up in Ohio County and was a 1972 graduate of Rising Sun High School.  She later continued her education at Trevecca Nursing School in Nashville, TN. Karen worked as a LPN for over 40 years and was employed at Advantage Home Health Care. She was a long time caregiver to Christopher White, who became like a son to her. Karen married David Lee Downing on March 31, 1984 at the Nazarene Church in Columbus, OH. Karen and David were married over 40 years until her passing. Karen was a woman of faith and a member of the Carrollton Apostolic Church in Carrollton, KY. Karen had an artistic side and was talented at making crafts. She enjoyed making ornaments and angels for her family and friends at Christmas time.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, David Downing, of Aberdeen, IN; by her sister, Carol Swanson, of Aberdeen, IN; by her brother, Tom Disbro, of Bedford, KY; by her nieces, Dawn Johns and Nikki Braughton; by her great niece, Lily Ramsey and by her beloved Christopher and his parents, Charlie and Veeta White, of Rising Sun, IN.  
 

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Darwin Pressler officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
