Kenneth Peter Alwin, 73, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away at his home on January 23, 2025. He was born December 17, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Ann Wind Alwin and Ralph Alwin. He was a 1970 graduate of Elder High School, Cincinnati, Ohio and a 1973 graduate of the University of Cincinnati.

On May 27, 1978, Ken married Susan Jean Donnangelo in Lindenhurst, New York. They were married 46 years. They were the parents of two sons, Justin Thomas, born December 17, 1980 and Brandon Keith, born April 15, 1984. They made their home in 1979 in Rising Sun where he lived for forty-five years until his death.

Ken worked for Joseph E. Seagrams, Lawrenceburg, Indiana for thirty-six years, retiring in June 2016. He went on to work as a consultant for Seagrams for an additional five years permanently leaving in 2021 after forty-one years.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Aurora, Indiana. He served as a leader of Boy Scouts for Rising Sun Troop 605 and was a member of the local Boy Scouts for over forty years. Ken enjoyed mentoring the Scouts in various skills including field craft, firearms & safety and how to be a good citizen in the community. He embodied this example by helping his family, friends, neighbors, church, grottos, coworkers and anyone who had the grand fortune of getting to know him. He enjoyed caving, repelling, electronics, music and playing guitar in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Rising Sun, IN; two sons, Justin Alwin of Louisville, KY and Brandon Alwin of El Paso, TX; one sister, Carol Leow (Hal) of Louisville, KY; three brothers-in-law, Andrew Donnangelo (Beth) of Florida, Anthony Donnangelo (Carla) of Maine, and Thomas Donnangelo (Lainie) of Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Carol Meade (Peter) of TN, and Nancy Perez (Larry) of Nebraska; two nephews, Matthew Leow (Sarah) of Montana and Nicholas Leow (Aimee) of Kentucky; and a host of other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Ralph Alwin, mother and father-in-law, Marilyn and Angelo Donnangelo, and brother-in-law, Joseph Donnangelo.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 29th 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s in Aurora, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts Troop 605.
