Larry King Obituary

Larry Thomas King was born in Cynthiana, KY on August 15, 1941, a son of the late Eloise (Rankin) Franklin and Stephen  King. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. While in service Larry received the following commendations: Motor Veh Mech Badge w/Bar, Sharpshooter (Rifle), Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and Sharpshooter (SMG Cal .45), and he was also a member of Rising Sun American Legion Post 59.  Larry was a truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 100. He drove for Ryder in Sharonville, OH and also for Kraft Foods in Cincinnati, OH. Larry was true outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed golfing and was a fan of about any sport you could think of. Larry had a green thumb when it came to gardening, especially tomatoes, and did his own canning and pickling. Larry loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren is what he enjoyed most. Larry passed away at 08:59 PM, Sunday, May 24th, 2020 at Highpoint Health in  Lawrenceburg, IN at the age of 78. Larry is  survived by two daughters, Shawnna Maria Short, of Henderson, NV and Rachel Renee King, of Lawrenceburg, IN; by three sons, Donald Jason King, of Cincinnati, OH;  Kevin Joshua King, of Cincinnati, OH and  Jordan Thomas King, of Cincinnati, OH; by 6 grandchildren: Amanda Lynn, Gage Lee, Ava Marie, Ian Paul, Jaxon V.C. and Karlee Beth. He is also survived by a sister, Monnie Barnes, of Lexington, KY and his former wife, Mary Beth King, of Rising Sun, IN. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Jerry King.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Thursday, May 28th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with military honors by the Rising Sun American Legion. Friends are invited to call 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 28th at Markland Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, KY.
