Lois Maxine (Craig) Smith

Lois Maxine Smith, 85, of Rising Sun, IN (formerly of Fairview, IN), passed away Monday, March 24th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Lois was born in Switzerland County, IN on December 30, 1939, a daughter of the late Rosetta V. (Niccum) Craig and Raymond  Craig. Lois was raised in the Florence, IN community and attended Patriot High School. She went on to graduate from Rising Sun High School. Lois married Harland David Smith on October 13th, 1956 in Patriot, IN. Lois and Harland were married over 68 years until her passing. Lois was employed at the Vevay Shoe Factory for several years. She had also worked at the Vevay Public Library and Rising Sun Chair Factory. Lois and Harland loved to go camping, an activity they enjoyed doing for 56 years. They traveled over much of the United States. Lois also liked spending time sewing and crocheting.

Lois is  survived by her loving husband, Harland Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by her two daughters, Cindie Fox and husband Rick, of Guilford, IN and Pamela Wullenweber and husband Clayton, of Sunman, IN; by her son, Michael Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Lois is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Rosetta Craig; by her brothers, Melvin and Bill Craig and by her sister, Jean Schmaltz.
