Lucas "Luke" Dayle Brett

Lucas Dayle Brett, 36, of Newport, KY, formerly of Rising Sun, IN, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 in Cincinnati, OH. Luke was born in Cincinnati, OH on January, 15, 1987, a son of Tamara “Tammy” (Curry) Brett and the late Dayle E. Brett. Luke was raised in the Ohio County Community area and was a graduate of the Rising Sun High School Class of 2005. Luke was employed as a machine operator for Meggitt. Luke brought joy into every area of his life and the lives of those he knew and loved. His happy personality showed by him always smiling and being easy going. His greatest source of excitement was his passion for being a father to his newborn daughter Adayleya Rose and soon to be husband to his fiancé Mckenna Prakel, planning their beach wedding for June 12, 2024. Luke was a big sports fan, cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds, and U.C. Bearcats. He also played softball in Aurora, IN and enjoyed fantasy football. Luke continued his legacy of positively impacting the lives of others by giving the gift of being an organ and tissue donor.

Luke is survived by fiancé Mckenna Prakel, of Newport, KY; daughter Adayleya Rose Brett; sons Kayzen Robinson, Shelyess Harmon, Jaquess Harmon, Marquess Harmon, and Torress Harmon; stepgrandsons Jaquess Harmon and Tariz Harmon; mother Tamara “Tammy” Brett of Greendale, IN; brother Greg Brett; sisters Tia Doolittle (Bryan), Regina Bolling (Mark), and Debbie Brett; aunts and uncles Larry and Penny Brett, Denny and Janet Brett, Brad and Andrea Brett, Gary and Marcia Brett, Steve and Penny Brett, Shawn Curry, Chris and Nikki Curry, Lynn and Patty Curry, and Mark Curry; nieces and nephews Jason Walker, Hayley Reatherford, Liam Doolittle, Laila Doolittle, Lennon Doolittle, Kate Bolling, Brett Bolling, Sarah Brett, Noah Brett, and Michael Brett. Luke also is survived by his beloved dogs Burrow, Bo, and Teddy.

Luke was preceded in death by his father Dayle E. Brett; paternal grandparents Eva and Leland Brett; maternal grandparents Rose Marie and Donald Curry; aunt Marian Curry, uncle Denny Brett, and cousin Noah Curry.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Markland Funeral Home from 5 – 8 PM. Funeral will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11 AM with burial to follow at Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Per the request of the family, we would like to ask everyone attending the services to please wear Bengals attire in celebration of Luke’s favorite team.
