Marcella Elizabeth (Thies) Jarvis

Marcella Elizabeth Jarvis, 99, of Aurora, IN, passed away at 12:51 PM, Friday, December 7th, 2018 at Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, IN. Marcella was born in Ohio County, IN on June 22, 1919, a daughter of the late Bessie (Hastings) and Herman  Thies. She attended Rising Sun Schools and graduated from Mollers Beauty School in Cincinnati, OH in 1941. Marcella worked as a beautician and operated a shop out of her home for several years. She married Forrest Leland Jarvis on September 3rd, 1953. Leland passed away on December 15, 1965. Marcella still maintained the home they bought together in 1954.  Marcella was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Marcella enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved the company of her nieces and nephew and many great nieces and nephews. 

Marcella is  survived by a nephew, John Edwin Peters (Saundra) of Rising Sun, IN; by nieces: Carolyn Jones of Cincinnati, OH, Nancy Hopper of Rising Sun, IN and Sherry Lawrence of Versailles, IN; by 9 great nieces and nephews, by 12 great great nieces and nephews and by several great great great nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Leland, by her sister Genevieve Peters, by an infant sister ,Wanda June Thies and by niece, Elaine Peters.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Wednesday, December 12th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Friends are invited to call  Wednesday 11AM-1PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice. marklandfuneralhome.com
