Mark Alan Caplinger

Mark Alan Caplinger, 71, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 16th, 2026 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Mark was born in Cincinnati, OH on June 6, 1954, a son of the late Jo Ann (Holder) Caplinger and Herschel  Caplinger. Mark was a 1972 graduate of Rising Sun High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mark retired from the I&M Power Plant in Lawrenceburg, IN where he was employed for several years. He was a member  of the Grace Bible Church in Ft. Thomas, KY. Mark liked to study the bible and listen to sermons. He enjoyed watching movies in his spare time and reading. Mark was a Reds, Bengals  and UC Bearcats fan. He always looked forward to working the Rising Sun Navy Bean Festival. He was proud of his service to his country and the fact that he had been able to take the Honor Flight to Washington, DC.

Mark is survived by his sisters, Karen Caplinger, of Rising Sun, IN and Andrea Brett (Brad), of Norwood, OH; by his nephew , Jason Brett (Jami), of Westerville, OH; by his niece, Kara Ervin (Ryan), of Alexandria, KY and by great nephews and niece; Drew Brett, Matt Brett, Conner Ervin, Preston Ervin and Selah Ervin
 
Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21st, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Welcome home Warriors.
