Mark Phillip Ely

Mark Phillip Ely, 75, of East Enterprise, IN, crossed over on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital. Mark was born in Hartford City, IN on December 27, 1950, a son of the late Barbara Ruth (Cox) Ely and Donn O. Ely. He was a 1969 graduate of Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, KY. Mark married Pamela Jean (Brown) Ely on August 7, 1971 at Grace Methodist Church in Newport, KY. Mark and Pam were married nearly 55 years until his passing. Mark was employed as an electrical designer  at H K Systems in Hebron, KY., for 30 years. He also worked for Switzerland County Schools as a bus monitor. Mark was a man of strong faith and devoted member of the Bible Baptist Church in Greendale, IN. He and his wife Pam also provided a ministry to local nursing homes for several years. Mark was very interested in genealogy and family history. He was also a collector and acquired baseball cards, coins and other objects that caught his eye. Mark had a kind and caring nature and enjoyed helping young people along their path. He coached Little League and he and Pam opened their home to 14 foreign exchange students over the years. Mark considered them his bonus children.  

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Jean Ely, of East Enterprise, IN; by his devoted son, Eric Michael Ely and wife Stacie, of Bear Branch, IN;  by his two brothers, Michael S. Ely and wife Cheri, of Lynchburg, VA and Martin E. Ely and wife Melissa, of Butler Co., OH. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Donn O. and Barbara Ruth Ely and by his cherished son, Christopher Ely in 2010.
 
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at the Bible Baptist Church in Greendale, IN. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 12th, 2026 at the church. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be to Bible Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family.
