Mary Ruth (Brett) Poling

Mary Ruth Poling, 84, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg. Mary was born in Switzerland County, IN on September 5, 1935, a daughter of the late Ina (Webster) and Everett Brett. She was a 1953 graduate of Vevay High School. Mary was employed at the Vevay branch of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration for over 40 years. Mary was the wife of Clyde Robert Poling. Mary and Clyde were married over 62 years until her passing. She was a member of the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Mary was an IU fan, but going to her granddaughter's ball games is what she enjoyed most.
Mary is  survived by her husband, Clyde R. Poling, of Rising Sun, IN; by a daughter, Jennifer Poling, of Rising Sun, IN; by two sons, Jeff Poling and wife DeAnna, of Burlington, KY and Alan Poling and wife Tonya, of Rising Sun, IN; by 4 granddaughters: Cora Poling, Claire Poling, Emily Fisher and Alicia Poling and 1 great grandchild on the way. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Everett & Ina Brett; by her brother, Marion Brett; by her sister, Melba Dean Littrell and by her sister-in-law, Myra Brett.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday, February 3rd at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Laura McDonald officiating. Visitation will be Monday 11 AM - 1 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun High School Athletic Fund or Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
