Mary Kathryn Smeeks, 76, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away Wednesday, July 29th, at Highpoint Health, Lawrenceburg, IN. Mary was born on November 26, 1943 in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Kathryn (Higgens) and Sidney Groce. She was a graduate of the Coolville High School Class of 1961 and was employed as an unit clerk at High Point Health. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed bird watching. On April 27, 1962 she married Leroy Smeeks.

In addition to her husband Leroy, Mary is survived by sons Casey Smeeks (Mary Cyphers) of East Enterprise, IN, Matt Smeeks (Sara) of Georgetown, KY, and Michael Smeeks (Shari) of Lawrenceburg, IN; brother Steve Groce of Dillsboro, IN; sister Nancy Bawn (Walter) of Lawrenceburg, IN; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Terry McCarty and brother-in-law Charlie McCarty.
