Matilde Galbreath (Pignoloni) of Vevay, Indiana, formerly of Italy, passed away April 10, 2026, at her home in Vevay, IN. Matilde was born on November 22, 1936 in Ascoli Pieceno, Italy, a daughter of Annibale and Orsola Pignoloni. Matilde was raised surrounded by the beauty of her home country. While in Italy, Matilde went worked as a legal assistant and also as a seamstress. She then moved to Germany, where she managed a hotel and met her ex husband Ralph Galbreath. Upon moving to the United States, she was employed as a dietary aide at Dillsboro Manor and then at Madison State Hospital. Matilde attended her local Catholic parish in her younger years and later attended Quercus Grove Methodist Church. Matilde enjoyed cooking, baking, and tending to her beautiful flowers. She especially enjoyed making, lasagna, apple pie and zucchini bread for her family throughout the years. Most of all, Matilde enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her family deeply.
Matilde is survived by son Robert Galbreath (and his wife Bridgot) of Vevay, Indiana; daughters Marlena Galbreath of Vevay, Indiana, Marea Henry (and her husband Doug) of Rising Sun, Indiana, and Martina Attebery (and her husband Jerry) of Vevay, Indiana; grandchildren Mason Galbreath, Michelle Sanders, Mara Ansbro (and her husband John), James Bare, Marty Galbreath, Marissa Henry, Desirae Griffin, Joseph Galbreath, Gabriel Galbreath, Michael Galbreath, Samuel Galbreath, Amelia Galbreath, and Elaineah Galbreath; and great grandchildren Aria Ansbro, Landon Sanders, Peyton Sanders, Declan Otter, and Lucas Galbreath.
Matilde was preceded in death by her parents Annibale and Orsola Pignoloni; son Marcus Allen Galbreath; and daughters Mary Ann Galbreath and Melinda Galbreath.
Services will be held at the Markland Funeral Home on Monday, April 20th, visitation 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, funeral 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Markland funeral home for expenses.
